The overall bocce champions for 2016 were:

■Women’s champion: Josie Gattuso with Josie Caruso receiving runner-up. A great battle was held throughout the season between these two players.

■Men’s champion: Nardo DiPetta of Kyabram took out out the 2016 title from another Kyabram player in Pat D’Aulerio.

Association president Giuseppe Greco thanked all for participating and the great work performed by the volunteers in the preparations throughout the season.

Bocce Victoria representative Mary Messena explained the new bocce format that will be introduced next year, called Bocce Smash.

The game will start in February and will be streamed live on Fox Television and YouTube.

The game will be played using coloured bocce bowls supplied by the venue. Hopefully the new concept will bring new players into playing bocce.

New players are most welcomed to join, by contacting their local bocce clubs.
