Merrigum Bowls Club will hold its 50th anniversary dinner on Sunday, October 1.

The Saturday pennant begins on September 2 when there will be Division 4 and Division 7 sides.

The Tuesday pennant begins on October 5 and Merrigum has a Division 4 team in this.

Sixty-and-over will begin on September 21.

The new executive consists of chairman John Firmer, deputy chair Joe Chant, secretary Maureen Shepherd and treasurer Patricia Hubble.

The portfolios for the directors include greenkeeper Robert Dennis; grounds maintenance and 60-and-over John Bailey; selection Joe Chant; match committee Joe Chant and Robert Dennis; publicity Joe and Lee Chant; bar Joe Chant and Robert Dennis; Tuesday pennant Lee Chant and Barry McMeeken; and Clive Baxter will fill in when required.

Pat Hubble was nominated to fill the casual vacancy on the board for the next season.

The 50th anniversary will be celebrated with a dinner on Sunday, October 1.

There is currently a basic list of old members for the ‘Back To’ event but the club would welcome any new names to add to the list.

There will be a game of bowls following dinner.

The green is now open and members are welcome to practise at any time.

Finally there will be an Opening Day on Sunday, September 3 at 1pm; names to be in by 12.45pm.

Uniform is to be worn and it would be appreciated if all players could contribute to the afternoon tea.

There is no cost for this day.

The next meeting is on August 31 at 4.15pm.
