Bocce club dishes out its season awards

Overall champions for 2017 Rosa Russo, Angiolina Borrelli, Pat D'Aulerio and Fred Decicco celebrate at the Kyabram Bocce Club's awards day on Sunday.

Bocce Awards

Kyabram Bocce Club hosted the 2017 Bocce Awards Day on Sunday.

A great day was held by all players who were all eager to see the results.

Participating was also the newly elected President of Bocce Victoria David Marks and President of Bocce Australia Frank Funari.

Mr Funari explained that Bocce Australia was introducing programs to encourage juniors into playing bocce, a super league club competition and what is being done to have bocce introduced into the next Olympic games.

Following a great meal prepared by the volunteer ladies, the awards were presented.

The women’s singles runner-up was Rosa Russo of Tatura, with Giuseppina Caruso of Shepparton the ladies singles champion.

The men’s singles runner up was Fred DeCicco of Shepparton, with Pat D’Aulerio of Kyabram the champion.

Mixed doubles runner-up was picked up by the husband and wife combination Fred and Molly DeCicco of Shepparton, with the champion mixed double team award was received by Mario Borrelli and Rosa Russo of Tatura.

The men’s section saw Mario Borrelli of Tatura place runners-up and Pat D’Aulerio of Kyabram receive the top Bocce award for 2017

President of the NEBA Giuseppe Greco thanked all the players for participating, the volunteers that helped out throughout the year with all the tasks that need to be performed, the sponsors and to vice president Mario Borrelli for taking over the reign during my absence.

Congratulations to Rosa Russo and Angiolina Borrelli for taking out the Women’s National Doubles Championship again this year in Perth.

Next year this prestigious national event will be held at the Redlands Club in Brisbane on the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
