The women played a stroke round in fine weather. This was an important event, being the eighth and final round for calculating the winners of the Hill Top brooch, and the play-off for star medallist.
The veterans top four players were decided, and will play off at a later date.
Karen Ballantyne blitzed the field with a 90-25-65 nett to win A-grade. Having missed a couple of weeks of golf she returned in fine form.
Runner-up was Lyn Fanning, continuing her good form from last week with a 69 nett.
Gail Meneilly was thrilled with her round of 114-44-70 nett to win B-grade. Runner-up was Francis Mark with 71 nett.
Ball winners: Liz Mulcahy, Bev Roberts, Di Day 74 and Deb Reilly 75 on countback
Nearest-the-pins: third Gallery Café, Terri Wangeman; sixth Tatura Hot Bread, Heather Long; ninth Café Alofa, Bev Roberts; 14th One4One, Jan Coe.
Nine-hole competition: Lynda O’Shannessy 41 nett on countback from Lois Rogers.
Winners at Parkland: The ladies 4BBB event at Parkland was won by Di Day and Janette Hayward with 46 points. Day, being a member at Parkland, knows a little about playing the par three course, which no doubt helped them have the great score, which included 15 pars. Well done girls.
Pennant: A great start for Hill Top which defeated Mooroopna 3/2 at home. Hill Top played Rich River Lemon at Mooroopna yesterday and was hoping for a win. Results next week.
Coming events: Hill Top ladies open championship, Friday, October 27, names to Bev.
Wednesday’s event: stroke: fifth round putting. Nine-holes: stroke, front nine.
